HYREA awarded ACT Government’s Renewable Energy Innovation Fund grant

Today, Shane Rattenbury – ACT’s Minister for Water, Energy and Emissions Reduction announced HYREA as one of the recipients of the Renewable Energy Innovation Fund (REIF) grant. REIF offers flexible, early-stage funding for renewable energy projects, initiatives and research. The grants support a broad range of new and emerging technologies and ventures that have the potential to support the delivery of the energy vision of the future.

HYREA will receive $253,000 to support the application of its technology to the maritime sector. Over the coming two years, HYREA will equip an electric, fuel cell powered boat with its technology- making it one of the first few boats with on-board hydrogen producing capability. The proposed hydrogen producing system will be capable of producing 300 grams of hydrogen within eight minutes, sufficient to power the vessel for up to an hour.

Mr Rattenbury said noted that hydrogen possibilities seem endless, and HYREA’s project is a prime example of that.
